Hong Kong food courts...

serve huge portions! This is the kimchi beef rice bowl that I got from the Korean stall. It is by no way cheap at about SGD9.00. But the portion is huge and there are tons of meat, vegetables and rice - enough to feed at least 2 very big eaters!

I have come to realise that food costs more overseas, but they come in portions big enough to share. The ingredients are also very fresh and they taste good most of the time.

I wonder if Singapore can deliver such freshness and tastiness in their foods? Our food court or hawker centers does serves up cheap meals, but most of them are pathetic in portion and contain miserly pieces of meat or veggies!

Would you rather pay more for quality or are you satisfied with the current food "situation" here?

Thai Express @ Paragon

Thai Express has renamed themselves as "Kaffir & Lime" in Paragon? Not too sure why the "additional" name, but the food remain dependable Thai staples.

I ordered the Thai beef salad - which was usually served only if the children did well in their exams (as described in the menu) - and boy was it tasty! And those kids do deserve this treat if they pass with flying colours! :)

Smoky beef cubes, sprinkled generously with lime, basil leaves, chilli padi, cilantro, and other Thai herbs....very appetizing and just so moreish!

J had his usual bowl of tom yum seafood with glass noodles. I'm a glass noodles fan. Anything with glass noodles just seem to taste better - but of course my taste buds are biased! The tom yum seafood soup is the clear type in Thai Express, which I prefer to the cloudy one actually.

I had the tanghoon chicken ball soup but didn't get a picture of it because I was just too hungry to take pics before devouring it.
This is one place that we will visit often as the food is usually consistently satisfying and service is good.

Random restaurant in Hong Kong

We plonked ourselves down into this eatery near our hotel in Hong Kong...as it was the most crowded amongst the rest.

And it was a good decision indeed....

Took a pic of the menu to remind me of the name of the restaurant...Hing Fat Restaurant.

This is their signature dish - beef fried rice. Yums! Never had beef fried rice before...and this is very fragrant and the the slices of beef is just moreish!

We also ordered a dish of fried fish fillet with cream of corn! Ok, if you are not into cream of corn, this dish is not for you. But I LOVE cream of corn! Hahaha....so this is really comfort food in the middle of that cold night.
The starchy creamy corn makes a good companion to the fried rice. I like my rice drowned in gravy or soup!

We ate fast and furious and rushed back to the hotel to watch whatever was left of the TVB's Anniversay Variety show :)
